On any evening in Nairobi, dozens of five-a-side courts are full — and the football world is starting to notice what the city's futsal community has known for years.
Coaches argue that the tight spaces and quick decision-making required in futsal develop exactly the technical skills young players need on the full-sized pitch.
Several of the national youth teams' most technically gifted players developed their touch on futsal courts, and federations are beginning to formalise the pathway.
